Stratton, Mississippi
Stratton is an unincorporated community in Newton County, Mississippi, United States. It sits along the Gulf, Mobile and Ohio Railroad and began in 1905 after the nearby village of Stamper moved closer to the railroad. In its early days, Stratton had a sawmill, four general stores, and a grocery store. The GM&O railroad once operated a siding in Stratton. The community also had a school. A post office served Stratton from 1906 to 1956. The area is in the Central Time Zone and sits about 446 feet above sea level. The phone area code is 601.
