Uracoa Municipality, Monagas
Uracoa Municipality, one of 13 in Monagas state, Venezuela, has its capital in the town of Uracoa. It covers 1,797.5 square kilometers. The area has a hot climate with an average temperature of 27.1 °C and about 1,440 mm of rainfall each year. The economy is based mainly on ranching, with some forested areas, and oil and gas activity has grown in recent years. Local dishes include Carne en vara (meat on sticks) seasoned with salt and pepper and cooked on wooden rods, and Majarete, a sweet made with papelón and cinnamon. Festivities include the feast of San Carlos Borromeo from November 2 to 6 and Carnival celebrations in February or March. The time zone is UTC-4. The mayor is Eveling Martinez.
