You and Me (Alice Cooper song)
You and Me is a soft rock ballad by American singer Alice Cooper. It was released in 1977 as the lead single from the album Lace and Whiskey, with "It's Hot Tonight" as the B-side. The album version runs 5:09, while the single edit is 3:25.
Release details: It came out in the United States in April 1977 and in the United Kingdom on July 22, 1977. It was released by Warner Bros. Records. The song was written by Alice Cooper and Dick Wagner and produced by Bob Ezrin. It sits in Cooper's single chronology after "I Never Cry" (1976) and before "(No More) Love at Your Convenience" (1977).
Chart performance: The song reached No. 9 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and No. 8 on the Cash Box Top 100 in the summer of 1977. It hit No. 3 in Canada and No. 2 in Australia, where it was the 13th biggest hit of 1977. It would be Cooper's last US top-ten hit until "Poison" twelve years later (1989).
Live performances and appearances: Cooper performed "You and Me" during his 1977 and 1978 tours. He also sang it on The Muppet Show in 1978 as a duet with a female monster who turned out to be Miss Piggy.
