Chris Culver is an American author who writes hardboiled crime fiction and thrillers set mainly in the Midwest. He has the Joe Court series (12 novels) and the Ash Rashid series (7 novels); the first Ash Rashid book stayed on The New York Times bestseller list for 16 weeks. He has also written standalone crime thrillers.

Culver was born in September 1981 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His family moved to Chickasha, Oklahoma, and then to Newburgh, Indiana, in 1988. As a child he loved reading and became interested in crime fiction after finding Mickey Spillane’s I, the Jury at a library sale.

He attended Hanover College, earning a bachelor’s degree in philosophy in 2004. After marrying a fellow Hanover graduate, he began law school and later joined a philosophy PhD program at Purdue University, where he taught undergraduate students as a graduate assistant.
