Wirtz Dam
Wirtz Dam sits on the Colorado River near Horseshoe Bay in Burnet County, Texas. It was built from 1949 to 1951 by the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) to generate hydroelectric power and to create Lake Lyndon B. Johnson (Lake LBJ).

Origin of names
- The dam was originally Granite Shoals Dam and was renamed Wirtz Dam in 1951 to honor Alvin J. Wirtz for his work with the LCRA.
- Lake LBJ was originally Lake Granite Shoals and was renamed in 1965 for President Lyndon B. Johnson.
