Volleyball at the 2007 Pan American Games took place in Rio de Janeiro, with indoor volleyball at Ginásio do Maracanãzinho and beach volleyball at Copacabana Stadium. The events ran from July 14 to July 28, with the women competing July 14–19 and the men July 23–28. Each gender had eight teams, split into two groups of four. In the group stage, teams played each other once. The top two teams in each group advanced to the semifinals. The third- and fourth-placed teams from the groups competed for 5th and 7th places, with the third-place team of one group facing the fourth-place team of the other group; winners played for 5th place and losers for 7th. Semifinal winners earned the gold medal, while semifinal losers earned the bronze.
