Byron Franklin
Byron Paul Franklin (born September 3, 1958) is a former American football wide receiver who played in the NFL for the Buffalo Bills and Seattle Seahawks from 1981 to 1987. A native of Florence, Alabama, he starred at Auburn University after attending Sheffield High School. He was selected in the 2nd round of the 1981 NFL Draft (50th overall).
In the NFL, Franklin recorded 145 receptions for 2,016 yards and 10 touchdowns. He earned Second-team All-SEC honors in 1980. After his playing career, he served as assistant director of athletic development at Auburn from 1991 to 1993. He was later appointed to Auburn's Board of Trustees by Gov. Don Siegelman, serving from 1999 to 2012 and chairing the Student Affairs committee. He has two younger children, Bradley Milton Franklin and Brandon Welsey Franklin.
