The University of Dental Medicine, Mandalay is a public university in Mandalay, Myanmar. Its motto is ārogya paramār lābhar, meaning “health is the greatest wealth.”

Established in 1998, it is one of two dental universities in Myanmar, the other being in Yangon. Together, these schools admit about 300 students each year.

Location and administration: The university sits on 62nd Street, Chanmyathazi, Mandalay, under the Ministry of Health. The rector is Kyaw Thiha. It has around 196 administrative staff and about 263 total staff. In 2019–2020, there were about 900 students: 850 undergraduates and 50 postgraduates.

Programs: The university offers a six-year Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program. After completing the Final BDS exam, students do one year of house surgeon training in teaching hospitals before earning the degree.

Postgraduate and doctoral studies are also available. Masters cover eight specialties, including oral and maxillofacial surgery; oral medicine and oral pathology; prosthodontics; conservative dentistry; orthodontics; paediatric dentistry; periodontics; and preventive and community dentistry. There are doctoral programs (Dr. Dent. Sc.) and diplomas in dental science (general practice) and dental implantology, plus certificates in dental nursing and dental implant training.

Rectors over the years have included Mya Thaw (1998–2009), Thein Kyu (2009–2012), Shwe Toe (2012–2015), Sun Sun Win (2015–2019), Ko Ko (2020–2022), and Kyaw Thiha (2022–present). For more information, visit udmm.webs.com.
