Uci Turtusi
Abuya KH. Uci Turtusi bin Dimyati (1964–2021), better known as Abuya Uci, was a respected Indonesian Muslim cleric from Banten. He led the Pondok Pesantren Salafiyah Al-Istiqlaliyah Cilongok in Cilongok, Sukamantri, Pasarkemis, Tangerang Regency, from 2001 after his father founded the pesantren in 1957.
Uci was known for his close ties with former president Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) and to Habib Muhammad Luthfi bin Yahya, often mentioning Gus Dur in his lectures. He was a spiritual teacher to Wahidin Halim, the governor of Banten, and supported Wahidin Halim and Andika Hazrumy in the 2017 gubernatorial election. His religious outlook was Sunni Islam (Shafi‘i) with Sufi influences from the Qadiriyya and Naqshbandiyya orders, and he followed the Ash‘ari creed.
He was married to Lala Sulwiyah and had seven children: Tatu, Anis, Iwan, Wida, Jami, Ila, and Farhan. Abuya Uci died on April 6, 2021, in Cilongok, Tangerang, Banten, and was buried in Cilongok.
