Trollius × cultorum is a group of garden-origin hybrid flowering plants in the buttercup family. They come from crossing Trollius europaeus, T. asiaticus and T. chinensis. These are clump-forming, herbaceous perennials that prefer heavy, moist or even boggy soil and do well in full sun or partial shade. They typically grow to about 60 cm tall and bear showy double flowers up to 6 cm across. Flowers range from cream to yellow and orange. What look like petals are actually curved sepals surrounding smaller nectar-bearing petals. The blooms are spherical or cupped, which gives the common name globeflower (shared with other Trollius species). The Latin name cultorum means “relating to gardens” or cultivation. Trollius × cultorum is an unresolved name, not yet accepted as a formal botanical name or synonym, but the plants are widely sold in gardens. Some cultivars have awards: 'Superbus' and 'Orange Princess' have the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. Other popular cultivars include 'Alabaster', 'Lemon Queen' and 'New Moon'.
