TAAN, the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal, is Nepal’s umbrella group for trekking companies. It was founded in Kathmandu on 28 May 1978 by Ambica Shrestha and is a nonprofit organization that aims to promote mountain tourism and trekking. Based in Kathmandu, TAAN has more than 2,100 member agencies. The president is Nilhari Bastola and the CEO is Ram Chandra Sedai.

TAAN coordinates the development, protection, and promotion of trekking routes and administers trekking permits through the Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS). It has pushed for safety and local employment, including the One Trekker, One Guide system since 2012. In April 2023, TAAN and the Nepal Tourism Board introduced TIMS rules requiring a guide or porter for international trekkers.

Historically, TAAN has played roles in emergencies: it helped coordinate rescue efforts during Cyclone Hudhud in 2004, and after the 2015 earthquake it worked with the World Food Programme to rebuild trails and deliver relief in several districts. TAAN is registered as a nonprofit with the Kathmandu District Administration Office and is listed with the Social Welfare Council. It was formerly known as Trekking Agents Association of Nepal and promotes sustainable trekking under the slogan Save our Trekking Trails for Sustainable Tourism. Its website is taan.org.np, and it is affiliated with the Nepal Tourism Board and the Government of Nepal.
