Eduard Pleske
Eduard Dmitrievich Pleske (6 November 1852 – 1904) was a Russian statesman of German origin. Born into a noble family, he studied at the Imperial Alexander Lyceum and joined the Ministry of Finance. He rose to be Assistant Director, then Director of the Special Credit Office, and later headed the State Bank of the Russian Empire, with his signature appearing on banknotes from 1895 to 1899. In 1903 he was appointed Assistant Minister of Finance under Sergei Witte, and soon after became Minister of Finance. He served until his death in 1904 and was briefly a member of the Imperial State Council in 1904. In 1885 he published Reference Guide to Tax Collectors, State Chambers and Treasuries.
