Progressive Convergence
Progressive Convergence (Convergencia Progresista, CP) was a Chilean political alliance formed on October 8, 2018. It brought together three social-democratic, center-left parties: the Party for Democracy (PPD), the Radical Party (PR), and the Socialist Party (PS). The group emerged after the dissolution of the New Majority coalition, which had been defeated in the 2017 general election. CP aimed to coordinate these parties and to engage with others, such as the Communist Party and the Broad Front, to oppose Chile Vamos.
The alliance described itself as center to center-left, with a third-way, social-democratic, and progressive orientation. Its headquarters were in Santiago de Chile. In Congress, CP members included 14 of 43 senators, 31 of 155 deputies, and 60 of 345 mayors.
Progressive Convergence dissolved on September 30, 2020, and was succeeded by Constituent Unity. It consisted of the three parties that had previously formed the New Majority.
