The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez is a 2020 American true-crime documentary miniseries on Netflix. It tells the story of the murder and long abuse of Gabriel Fernandez, an eight-year-old boy from Palmdale, California, in 2013. The six-episode series was released on February 26, 2020, and is directed by Brian Knappenberger. It was produced by Luminant Media and Common Sense Media. The show features interviews with Los Angeles Times journalists, lawyers Jon Hatami and Scott Andrew Yang, and Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey, among others. Because the case is disturbing, the filmmakers had a therapist on call during production. The series received generally positive reviews from critics, with CNN's Brian Lowry calling it compelling but structurally messy, and Decider's Joel Keller calling it a must-watch.
