The women’s marathon at the 1988 Seoul Olympics took place on September 23 at Jamsil Olympic Stadium. The race began at 9:30 AM. 70 runners from 39 nations competed, and 64 finished. Rosa Mota of Portugal won in 2:25:40, 13 seconds ahead of Lisa Martin of Australia. Katrin Dörre of East Germany took the bronze.
