T-Wave (album)
T-Wave is the seventh studio album by Japanese musician Masayoshi Takanaka. It was released on June 1, 1980, by Kitty Records. The music mixes jazz fusion with elements of city pop, funk, Latin, and soul, showcasing Takanaka’s bright guitar playing and lively arrangements. The album was recorded in 1980 at Kitty Izu Studio, Polydor Studio, and KRS Studio, and was issued on blue vinyl and cassette.
Key tracks include the upbeat opener “Early Bird” and the breezy “My Secret Beach,” which was used in a Mazda Familia commercial. The slower piece “Crystal Memories” shows a gentler side. T-Wave is seen as the start of Takanaka’s strong early-1980s period, with a bright guitar tone and clean production that appealed to both jazz-fusion fans and city pop listeners.
All tracks were written by Masayoshi Takanaka. In his discography, T-Wave comes after Jolly Jive (1979) and before Finger Dancin’ (1980). Credits and personnel are listed in the liner notes.
