Sunways was a charter airline made up of two sister companies: Sunways Airlines A.B. (SWY) in Stockholm, Sweden, and SUNWAY Intersun Havacilik Anonim Sirketi (SWW) based at Atatürk Airport and Antalya, Turkey. It operated from March 1995 to October 1997. The airline was owned by Tursem A.Ş., a Turkish travel group founded in 1985 by Haluk Semiz and Nedim Gürbüz, which went bankrupt on October 4, 1997, leading to Sunways ceasing operations. The Turkish arm, Sunway Intersun Havacilik, flew four MD-83s, while the Sweden arm, Sunways Sweden, operated four Boeing 757-200s. Its hubs were Antalya Airport, Atatürk Airport, and Stockholm-Arlanda Airport, and its headquarters were in Istanbul, Turkey. The total fleet size was eight aircraft. Sunways used the IATA code IS, the ICAO code SWY, and the call signs SWY/SWW.
