Pouilly-en-Auxois is a small town in eastern France, in the Côte-d'Or department of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. It sits on the St Pierre hill, where a castle and walls once stood built by the Dukes of Burgundy. The town’s best-known feature is that it is the summit of the Canal de Bourgogne, which runs through a tunnel under the town called La Voûte.

History and sights
- In the 13th and 14th centuries, the Chapel of Our Lady Found (Notre Dame Trouvée) stood near the old town.
- In the 16th century the town moved down into the valley, and in 1868 the new St Pierre church was built in the center.
- Three dovecotes from the 15th century with about 1,200 pigeonholes remain above the town.
- A Madonna statue sits on a hill above the town, offering a view of the canal.
- A 12th-century chapel near the cemetery remains, but is closed for renovations.
- Tourists can ride through the 3.3 km La Voûte tunnel on a boat trip called Billebaude, run from the port’s tourism office.

Climate and economy
- Pouilly-en-Auxois has an oceanic climate. The average yearly temperature is about 10.5 °C, and rainfall totals about 872 mm, with November usually the wettest month.
- July is the warmest month (around 19 °C) and January the coldest (about 2.4 °C). The record high is 39.2 °C (2003) and the record low is -18.2 °C (2009).
- Historically, the town was an agricultural center, growing wheat and later hemp, oils, skins, wool and sheep.

- The town covers about 110.12 square kilometers and sits at elevations between 369 and 560 meters.
- The population was about 1,533 people in 2023.
