Vardaman Kimball Smith, known as V. K. Smith, played guard for the Ole Miss Rebels at the University of Mississippi from 1925 to 1927. He also captained the track team. Smith starred in the first Egg Bowl to feature a trophy, repeatedly breaking through the line to open holes for Sollie Cohen against Texas A&M. In 1927 he was named All-Southern and received honorable mention on the All-America team.
