Plagiomimicus spumosum, the frothy moth, is a North American moth in the Noctuidae family. It was first described by Augustus R. Grote in 1874. The species ranges across the United States and reaches southern Ontario and southern Alberta. The wingspan is about 33–40 mm. Adults fly in mid-summer and there is one generation per year. The larvae feed on sunflowers (Helianthus annuus), burrowing into the head of the plant to eat the seeds. Binomial name: Plagiomimicus spumosum (Grote, 1874).
