Star Awards 2003
Star Awards 2003 took place on 7 December 2003 at MediaCorp TV Theatre in Singapore. It was the 10th Star Awards organized by MediaCorp Channel 8. The show was hosted by Timothy Chao and Chun Guek Lay, marking Chao’s sixth consecutive year as host.
A total of 27 awards were handed out—6 in a Backstage Ceremony (which had no presenters) and the rest during the main ceremony. Holland V made history by sweeping the major categories: it won Best Drama Serial, along with Best Actor/Actress and Best Supporting Actor/Actress, giving the drama 7 wins from 10 nominations. This set a record at the time for one series, a record later surpassed by The Little Nyonya (2009) and The Dream Makers (2013-14).
The ceremony also marked the last time certain awards were presented in their old form: Malaysia’s Favourite Artistes, Malaysia’s Favourite Drama Serial, and the Special Achievement Award. They would be revised and reintroduced later with new categories when the show changed formats in 2010–2016.
Xie Shaoguang received the Special Achievement Award, and a 40th Anniversary Evergreen Achievement Award was given to a longtime television figure. Professional and Technical Awards were shown beforehand in a clip montage due to time constraints, with the main awards presented during the show.
