Hydra (operating system)
HYDRA (stylized as HYDRA) is an early, discontinued microkernel designed to support many different operating systems on top of it. Developed at Carnegie Mellon University in 1971 as part of the C.mmp project, HYDRA is capability-based and object-oriented, with a focus on modularity, security, and easy experimentation. It was written in the BLISS language and intended for research use. HYDRA used a command-line interface, was compiled from source, and its final release was in 1975.
