Iffat Ara Dewan
Iffat Ara Dewan is a Bangladeshi singer and painter. She received the Bangla Academy Rabindra Award in 2012. Dewan trained in music at Chhayanaut from 1963 to 1968 under Waheedul Haq and Sanjida Khatun. She earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Dhaka in 1975. She also studied art at Byam Shaw School of Art in London in 1992. Her first EMI record, released on 45 rpm in 1970, features two Rabindra Sangeet songs from Dhaka and Kolkata: Ami Rupey Tomai Bholabo Na and Probhu Bolo Bolo Kobey. She started painting in 1990, and her first solo exhibition was in 1992 at the German Cultural Center in Dhaka. She has held multiple solo exhibitions, including one in Paris, France. Dewan is a member of the executive committee of Chhayanaut.
