Sredgora is a small settlement in the Municipality of Semič in southeastern Slovenia. It sits in the historic region of Lower Carniola and is part of the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region. The village covers 2.15 square kilometers and is about 696 meters above sea level. The name Sredgora comes from the words for "in the middle of" and "forest," describing its location in wooded terrain; the German name Mittenwald has the same meaning. Before World War II, Gottschee Germans lived here, but they were expelled in 1941 and the village was burned in 1944. The local church, once dedicated to Mary Magdalene and part of the Planina parish, is now a ruin.
