Seine River (electoral district)
Seine River (French: Rivière-Seine) is a provincial electoral district in Manitoba, Canada. It covers the southern part of Winnipeg. The district was created in 1989 and has existed since the 1990 election. It is bordered by Dawson Trail to the south and east, Southdale and Riel to the north, and St. Norbert to the west. The riding is mostly urban with some rural areas. Its population was 18,833 in 1996. In 1999, the average family income was $63,800 and the unemployment rate was 4.2%. About 9% of residents are francophone, with a 4% German community. Health and social services make up about 14% of local employment. The current MLA is Billie Cross of the New Democratic Party, elected in 2023. The riding was first contested in 1990 and last contested in 2023.
