Crown Prince Maui

Crown Prince Maui, born Kim Il in 912, was the last crown prince of the Silla kingdom and the son of King Gyeongsun. His name Maui means "hemp dress" because he wore clothes made of hemp all his life. When his father surrendered Silla to Goryeo, Maui fled to the southern mountains in Jeolla Province. Today, the Buan Kim clan and the Tongch'ŏn Kim clan regard him as their founding ancestor.
