The team, owned by Sporting Club and led by head coach Peter Vermes, played at Children’s Mercy Park. In Major League Soccer, they finished 12th in the conference and 22nd overall, and did not qualify for the playoffs. In the U.S. Open Cup, they reached the semi-finals.
Attendance highlights: the highest home crowd was 20,142 on July 23 against LAFC; the lowest league crowd was 17,233 on May 18 against Colorado. The average attendance across all competitions was 14,913.
Biggest results: a 4–1 win over Portland on August 21 was their biggest, while a 7–2 loss to Portland on May 14 was their heaviest defeat.
