Drimys andina
Drimys andina is a flowering plant in the Winteraceae family. It is native to central and southern Chile and southern Argentina in South America.
This evergreen shrub grows about 0.5–1 meter tall and wide. It has long, oval, leathery leaves and, in summer, white, star-shaped, scented flowers that appear in clusters at the ends of branches. It lives in sub-alpine and sub-antarctic forests from roughly 37°43’ to 41°34’ S.
Taxonomy: Kingdom Plantae; Order Canellales; Family Winteraceae; Genus Drimys; Species andina. Binomial name Drimys andina (Reiche) R.A.Rodr. & Quezada. Synonyms include Drimys winteri var. andina, Drimys winteri f. andina, and Drimys winteri var. quinoensis.
