Valeriy Dolgin
Valeriy Dolgin, born March 13, 1964, in Kamensk-Yralski, USSR, is a Russian guitarist and songwriter. He is known for his work with Valery Leontiev, V. Presnyakov, and L. Dolina, as well as for his own solo albums. Dolgin has also contributed guitar parts to film and TV scores, including The Turkish Gambit, The Admiral, High Security Vacation, and series such as Esenin and Hunt.
Life and career
Dolgin grew up with a military father and a mother who played cello. He began his music career in 1981 with the gypsy band Djang, led by Nikolai Eredenko. He graduated in 1987 from the Moscow School of Music with a focus on classical guitar. He then played bass in the Georgian group Inguri (1987–1988), joined Formula-2 (1990–1991), and started touring with L. Dolina. In 1991 he became the solo guitarist in Valery Leontiev’s band Echo and appeared in Leontiev’s videos “Night” and “At Heavenly Gate.” In 1992 he performed in The Land of Love live recording for Bomond, in a duet with Leontiev. From 1993 to 1995 he played with the group MF-3, and in 1995 he returned to Leontiev’s Echo.
In 1996 Dolgin began major solo concerts in the show The One Way to Hollywood, which was named Russia’s best show in 1996 and 1997. In 1998 he recorded most of the guitar parts for Igor Krutoy’s program and helped prepare the program again in 2001, 2004, and 2014. In 1999 he contributed to Igor Nikolaev’s song “Five Reasons,” featuring a significant guitar solo by Dolgin.
