Santarcangelo di Romagna is a town in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, in the Rimini province. It lies along the old Via Emilia and has about 21,000 residents.

The town is crossed by two rivers, the Uso and the Marecchia. It includes much of the nearby village of San Vito, where you can see the Ponte di San Vito and the Sanctuary of Madonna di Casale.

Santarcangelo sits on the route of the ancient Via Aemilia, a Roman road that went from Rimini to Piacenza. A stone bridge crosses the Uso near Santarcangelo. In Roman times the road was redirected to pass through San Vito, crossing the Uso at the Ponte di San Vito.

In 1992, Santarcangelo di Romagna moved from the Province of Forlì to the newly created Province of Rimini.

One of the town’s most famous events is Santarcangelo dei Teatri, an international festival for contemporary theatre and dance. It takes place in the streets and squares of the city and focuses on theatre, dance, and interdisciplinary art, with many international partners. The festival began in 1971 as the International Square Theatre Festival.

For transport, the town lies on the Bologna–Ancona railway, with hourly trains to Rimini. Nearby, the village of Sant’Ermete was once served by the Rimini–Novafeltria railway (now closed). There were plans for a Santarcangelo–Urbino railway, but it was never completed.
