Christopher Akinleye Alabi is an American chemist and associate professor of chemistry at Cornell University. His research focuses on designing sustainable materials and developing biomolecular therapies. In 2023, he was elected to the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering for his work.

Alabi studied chemistry at New York University, where he conducted undergraduate research with David Schuster. He earned a joint bachelor’s degree in chemistry and chemical engineering from NYU and the Stevens Institute of Technology. He has said that his strong network at NYU helped his academic path.

For his doctoral work, Alabi attended the California Institute of Technology, where he studied under Mark E. Davis. He later moved to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as an NIH postdoctoral fellow, working with Robert S. Langer.

In 2013, Alabi joined Cornell University as a faculty member. His group uses synthetic and analytical tools to understand and engineer macromolecular therapeutics. They design sequence-defined macromolecules for stimuli-responsive delivery and identify optimized drug-delivery bioconjugates.
