Salt Spring Air was a floatplane airline based on Salt Spring Island in British Columbia, Canada. It operated scheduled flights, charters, and tours, with its main base in Ganges. The company was founded in 2003 by St. Clair McColl and started with four-seat Cessna 185s, later adding de Havilland Beaver airplanes, growing to a small fleet that served the Gulf Islands and routes to Vancouver Island, including flights to Vancouver International Airport. Salt Spring Air was the only airline based on Salt Spring Island. In 2007, founder McColl helped rescue a father and son from a capsized boat in the Strait of Georgia, a rescue that was honored by the Lifesaving Society of British Columbia. In November 2015, Salt Spring Air was purchased by Harbour Air Seaplanes and its planes began flying in Harbour Air Seaplanes livery. It became part of Harbour Air, along with Westcoast Air and Seair Seaplanes, making Harbour Air the largest all-seaplane airline in the world. Scheduled flights continue to connect the Gulf Islands with Vancouver. The Salt Spring Air site is now part of Harbour Air’s website.
