Minister of Health and Population (Nepal)

The Minister of Health and Population (Nepali: स्वास्थ्य तथा जनसंख्या मन्त्री) heads Nepal's Ministry of Health and Population. As a senior member of the Federal Cabinet, the minister is responsible for health policy, planning, organization, and coordination of the health sector at national, provincial, district, and community levels. The minister is assisted by the Minister of State for Health and Population and by a Deputy Minister.

Current minister: Sudha Sharma Gautam, in office since 26 October 2025. During the interim government that began on 12 September 2025, Prime Minister Sushila Karki oversaw multiple ministries, including Health and Population.

Office and appointment: The minister works from Singha Durbar, Nepal. The post is nominated by the Prime Minister and appointed by the President. The term length is no fixed term. The minister reports to the Prime Minister and Parliament and is addressed as Honourable.
