Safe Driving Day, or S-D Day, was a U.S. holiday started in 1954 to draw attention to traffic accidents. It began with President Eisenhower’s November 16, 1954 statement, in which he urged Americans to "help make it a day without a single traffic accident throughout our entire country." He outlined a three-point plan to reach this goal. The second Safe Driving Day was held on December 1, 1955.
