Room for Improvement (mixtape)
Room for Improvement is the debut mixtape by Canadian rapper Drake. It was self-released on February 14, 2006, by All Things Fresh and recorded in 2005–2006.
The project features contributions from Toronto artists Slakah the Beatchild, Frank Dukes, and Boi-1da, along with guests Trey Songz and Nickelus F. Producers include Boi-1da, DJ Ra, Frank Dukes, DFS, Amir, and Soundtrakk. The mixtape runs about 65 minutes and is in the hip hop genre.
Two singles were released: "Do What You Do" on December 7, 2005, and "City is Mine" on June 9, 2006. By the end of 2006, the mixtape had sold around 6,000 copies.
In a February 2006 interview, Drake described Room for Improvement as a mix CD hosted by DJ Smallz, with 17 original tracks plus a few remixes (22 tracks total). He mentioned collaborations with Clipse, Lupe Fiasco, Nickelus F, Trey Songz, Voyce, and others. The mixtape was re-released in 2009 with 11 selected songs, no DJs, and a remix of "Do What You Do."
