Riegsee
Riegsee is a small municipality in southern Germany, in the state of Bavaria. It is part of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district and belongs to the Seehausen am Staffelsee municipal association. The town sits on the shore of Riegsee Lake. The name Riegsee comes from a historical personal name Ruodgis and the Old High German word for lake. Riegsee covers about 20.44 square kilometers and sits at an elevation of 668 meters. As of December 2023, around 1,287 people live there. The mayor for 2020–2026 is Jörg Steinle.
