Rajendra Darda
Rajendra Jawaharlal Darda (born 21 November 1952) is an Indian journalist, author and politician from Maharashtra. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Lokmat Media Group. He served as a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly three times from Aurangabad: 1999–2004 and 2004–2009 from Aurangabad West, and 2009–2014 from Aurangabad East. He held several ministerial posts in Maharashtra, including Energy, Finance and Planning, Home, Industries, and School Education.
Darda studied at Nagpur University, earned a diploma from the Government Institute of Printing Technology in Mumbai, and completed a two-year graphic arts course in London. He wrote books such as Zumbar and Vibrant Vignettes, and taught journalism at Nagpur University. He led relief efforts through Lokmat after floods in 1984 and earthquakes in 1988 and 1993, and supported Kargil families and martyrs’ children.
He is married to Ashoo Darda and has two sons, Karan and Rishi. His brother, Vijay Jawaharlal Darda, chairs Lokmat and has served three times as a Member of Parliament.
