History notes: Nooksack was incorporated on December 6, 1912. It once had a rail station, which helped its growth, but big fires in the early 1900s slowed development. In 2009, a plan to merge Nooksack with nearby Everson into a larger city called “Nooksack Valley” was proposed but not pursued after public feedback.
ZIP code: Nooksack currently has ZIP code 98276. It used to share 98247 with Everson after a 1992 USPS decision moved the postmaster to Everson, which affected local sales tax revenue.
Climate: The area has a marine west coast climate, with mild temperature changes and rain year-round.
Education: The Nooksack Valley School District serves the area, including Nooksack Valley High School, one middle school, and three elementary schools that serve Nooksack, Everson, and nearby areas.
