Joke Singh
Nishant Tanwar, born on November 7, 1982, in Jamnagar, Gujarat, is an Indian comedian and actor known as Joke Singh and more recently as Rider OP. He started his career at NDTV as a producer/editor and began stand-up in 2009, turning to comedy full-time as the art grew popular. He has created and performed comedy specials like Comedy in Diversity, Two and a Laugh Men, and Third World Comedy, and helped found the Improv Premier League (IPL), Delhi’s leading improv troupe.
Tanwar’s humor targets stereotypes and Indian culture but connects with people from all backgrounds. He’s a prominent figure in Delhi and Gurgaon’s stand-up scene and has grown a substantial online following, reaching half a million YouTube subscribers after his stand-up on Amazon Prime’s Delhi Se Hoon B*****d. His live shows sell out across major Indian cities, and he has hosted the Joke Joker Jokest event in Kolkata and appeared on Comedy Central’s Improv.
He has performed nationwide in India and internationally in the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, and has shared the stage with Zakir Khan in Gurgaon. His 2019 special Nishant Tanwar Live – The New Special was presented by Comedy Circuit in Kolkata and recorded for Amazon Prime Video. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he started streaming as Rider OP, gaining attention for reaction videos, including collaborations with Tanmay Bhat.
