Charlie Hughes (Charles Samuel Hughes) was an American Negro league baseball infielder who played as a second baseman and shortstop. Born October 13, 1906, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he batted and threw right-handed. Hughes began his Negro league career in 1931 with the Pittsburgh Crawfords and played until 1938, finishing with the Washington Black Senators. He also played for the Homestead Grays, Columbus Blue Birds, Cleveland Red Sox, and Baltimore Black Sox. He died March 24, 1981, in Pittsburgh.
