Province 8 of the Episcopal Church
Province 8 (VIII), also known as the Province of the Pacific, is one of nine ecclesiastical provinces of the Episcopal Church in the United States. It includes sixteen dioceses in nine states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. Also part of the province are the Episcopal Diocese of Taiwan (a diocese since 1960) and the Navajoland Area Mission (established in 1979 to serve the Navajo Nation). The province covers more than a third of the U.S. land area and about 20% of the population, making it one of the most diverse regions in the country. The president is the Rt. Rev. Gretchen Rehberg of the Diocese of Spokane, and the vice president is Rev. Tom Sramek Jr. of the Diocese of Oregon.
