Priority product
Priority products are items that could cause significant environmental harm. In the United States, the Environmental Protection Agency lists electronics, mercury-containing items, batteries, medical devices, carpet, and packaging as priority products. In New Zealand, the Waste Minimisation Act 2008 defines a priority product as one that could cause significant environmental harm, would benefit from reuse or recycling, and can be managed under a product stewardship scheme.
