Jean-Pierre Maradan
Jean-Pierre Maradan, born 19 February 1954, is a Swiss former footballer who played as a defender. He grew up in Deitingen, Solothurn, and started his career with local clubs before joining FC Grenchen’s youth system. He began playing for Grenchen’s first team in 1970, helping the club win the Uhrencup in 1971 and secure promotion to the Nationalliga A that year, though they were relegated after the 1972–73 season. In 1976 he moved to FC Basel, where he became a key defender under coach Helmut Benthaus. With Basel he won the Swiss Championship twice and reached the Swiss Cup Final in 1982, which Basel lost 1–0 to FC Sion. He also won the Coppa delle Alpi once and the Uhrencup four times, scoring a penalty in the 1983 Uhrencup final. After his successful spell in Basel, Maradan returned to Grenchen in 1984, where he played until 1986 and won the Uhrencup again in 1985 before retiring. Internationally, he earned one cap for Switzerland in 1977.
