Jean Jacquier
Jean Marius Jacquier (3 September 1897 – 13 August 1981) was a French footballer who played as a defender for Olympique de Marseille, spending his entire career with the club. Born in Marseille, he began with OM in 1913 at age 16 and stayed with the first team until 1932, later playing for the reserves until 1940. In official matches for OM, he made 145 appearances and scored 24 goals.
Jacquier helped OM reach the 1919 USFSA Championship final, scoring in a 4–1 loss to Le Havre. He was part of the Marseille team coached by Victor Gibson that won three Coupe de France titles in 1924, 1926 and 1927, starting in all the finals as OM defeated Sète, Valentigney, and Quevilly. He is one of the few players to win three Coupe de France titles; after the 1927 final, journalists from L’Auto praised him as decisive and opportunistic, giving great service to his team. He also helped OM win the 1929 French Amateur Championship, beating Club Français 3–2 in the final on 28 April, even though he sometimes played in tense moments.
Jacquier spent nearly twenty years with OM and died in Marseille at the age of 83.
