Jasper White (photographer)
Jasper White (born 1973) is a British photographer from East London. His work explores how people relate to places and how spaces are defined. He studied art at Southend Art College and the Kent Institute of Art & Design, and has worked in advertising. He was the keynote speaker at the 2012 Grid Photo Festival in Amsterdam.
White often uses Lambda prints for bright, saturated color. His images are rich in detail and can feel bold or garish. Although he photographs human-made spaces, his photos usually show no people, inviting viewers to place themselves in the scene. Many shots are taken from a direct angle, as if you are standing at the doorway.
His first book, Man Caves, was published in 2014 in Australia by Thames & Hudson, exploring creative expression in domestic male spaces. His later project Tour Eiffel, begun around 2018, follows Parisians who share the view of the Eiffel Tower and their relationship with it. He has received several photography awards and has exhibited in London, Amsterdam, New York, and beyond.
