Gymnogeophagus missioneiro
Gymnogeophagus missioneiro is a South American geophagine cichlid that lives in parts of the Uruguay River and the Río Negro. It was described in 2015 by L. R. Malabarba, M. C. Malabarba, and R. E. dos Reis.
Key features:
- No supraneural bones
- First dorsal fin has a forward spine
- No oblique bar between the eye and nape
- Black mark near the start of the dorsal fin that extends toward the back
