Presentation Brothers College (PBC Cork), known as Pres, is a Catholic, private fee‑paying boys’ secondary school in Cork, Ireland. It was founded in 1878 by the Presentation Brothers. The current site is at the Mardyke; the school previously sat on Grand Parade and Western Road (the Western Road site is now used by University College Cork). In 1985 the college moved to its modern building at the Mardyke, with rugby facilities at Dennehy’s Cross. The school also has its own rowing club and boathouse on the Marina. About 720 students attend, roughly 120 per year group. The motto is Viriliter Age (Act Courageously) and the principal is David Barry.

Curriculum and campus life
PBC runs the Junior Certificate, followed by Transition Year, and then the Leaving Certificate. Irish is taught as a second language and English is the first language, with mathematics as a compulsory subject. Students must take one language from French (second), German (second), or Latin. In second year, learners can drop two L2 languages and choose between art or geography; Social Education and ICT are not taught from second year. Streaming is not used until third year.

Sport and achievements
Rugby is the college’s flagship sport. By 2024, PBC had won 32 Senior Cups and 32 Junior Cups and produced 22 Irish rugby internationals. Six former players have played for the British and Irish Lions: Tom Kiernan, Jerry Walsh, Michael Kiernan, Ronan O’Gara, Simon Zebo and Peter O’Mahony. The school also fields teams in rowing, basketball, GAA, soccer and golf. Notable trophies include the All-Ireland U-16 basketball title in 2009 and the Munster Senior Cup in 2015, along with Cork County Championship wins in golf (2006 and 2007).

Community, outreach and governance
In 1970, under Jerome Kelly, students helped found SHARE (Students Harness Aid for the Relief of the Elderly). In 2005, Preslink was created to connect with other Presentation Brothers communities, and in 2006 it received the Edmund Rice Award. In 2009 ownership of the school was handed to lay trustees. PBC remains one of Cork’s leading private schools and is often noted for its strong rugby program and overall academic reputation.
