Ruud Vormer
Ruud Vormer (born 11 May 1988 in Hoorn, Netherlands) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a central midfielder. He is best known for his long spell with Club Brugge in Belgium.
Vormer started at local amateur clubs before joining AZ in 2000 and making his first-team debut in 2006. He moved to Roda JC in 2008, where he became an important player and was part of the team of the season in 2011-12. After a spell at Feyenoord, he joined Club Brugge on 1 September 2014. He quickly became a key player, was Brugge’s player of the season in 2015-16, and won the Belgian Golden Shoe in 2017. He helped Brugge win the Belgian league in 2017-18 and again in 2020-21, earning more recognition along the way. In 2023 he went on loan to Zulte Waregem, then signed permanently with them after Brugge’s season ended, and he retired in 2024.
Internationally, Vormer made his Netherlands debut on 31 May 2018 against Slovakia and earned four caps in total.
