Bernalillo is a small town in Sandoval County, New Mexico, and the county seat. It is part of the Albuquerque metropolitan area and sits in the Rio Grande Valley on the east bank of the Rio Grande. The town covers about 5.3 square miles, mostly land, and sits at an elevation of about 5,050 feet. The population was 8,977 at the 2020 census and an estimated 9,114 in 2023. Bernalillo has a long wine heritage. In the 1620s, Catholic priests and Spanish settlers brought wine grapes here. The wine industry grew and is now a traditional part of the town. Bernalillo hosts the New Mexico Wine Festival every Labor Day, which attracts visitors from around the state.

Most of Bernalillo is in the Bernalillo Public Schools district, with some areas in the Jemez Valley Public Schools. Bernalillo High School serves the town. Anton Docher, known as "The Padre of Isleta," began his work as a priest in Bernalillo.
