Polyptychus
Polyptychus is a genus of moths in the hawk moth family (Sphingidae). It was named by Jacob Hübner in 1819. These moths are medium to large and light brown, with a wingspan of about 65–120 mm. They live in Africa and Southeast Asia. In the Smerinthinae subfamily, their heads are unusually large and the rear part of the body is long and cylindrical. They fly at night, do not visit flowers, and are not drawn to light. They lay eggs on plants in the Boraginaceae family. There are about 30 species, including Polyptychus affinis, carteri, chinensis, dentatus, trilineatus, and about 24 others.
